Citizenship is about being able to participate in politics, not operate a vehicle. My argument is that voting is a minimum right, so if you’re going to try a 16 year old as an adult, all 16 year olds should be able to vote, for example. Hope that makes sense — I don’t necessarily buy into the arguments you’re attributing to the left nor do I buy into the distinctions you’re making between adults and non-adults. As I wrote, voting is not based on competence, it’s based on whether or not we value people enough to participate in politics and elections.
