Hey, Teri! I’m the guy in the middle. For what it’s worth, it’s about more than distraction. I also said he misrepresents the arguments civil rights advocates are making by dismissing their views as “identity politics” and confusing cultural and political debates, even as he inserts himself directly into political debates. I’ve written more here. https://medium.com/s/story/a-field-guide-to-jordan-petersons-political-arguments-312153eac99a
The use of “soy boy” as an epithet comes from the Proud Boys, a hate group for young men: https://www.thisamericanlife.org/626/white-haze
The folks behind us were also sending pictures to right wing influencers and media figures so they could post pictures of us and make up stuff about us out of context. That includes Dave Rubin, who opened the show. I reached out to Rubin, but doubt I’ll hear back to him. As much as he and Peterson say they’re happy to discuss their ideas, they have a strange habit of not actually dealing with arguments from civil rights advocates.
Anyway, I appreciate you taking the time to write this up and engage with our ideas! It means a lot.

Thanks!
