Local BLM groups are civil rights groups! Including the ones where I live. I would bet no one at aim.org had EVER gone to a civil rights meeting or met with or spoken to BLM activists doing anti-violence work and police reform work among so much else I their communities. People talk about BLM like this monolithic thing but it’s a movement made of real people whose work we can read and see and support. So that’s where I’m coming from here as a white guy who lives in a historically black city.

Fwiw, I wouldn’t even call antifa an organized political movement but I have seen antifa groups rally to counter protest white nationalists locally and I’m grateful that they’ve done so.

Democracy is pretty cool. We should try it some time. Voting rights, science policy, political communication and grassroots activism.
