Your argument is focused almost entirely on how we talk about issues rather than policy that impacts people’s lives. Lately, when conservatives don’t have popular policy alternatives, as on climate change, they revert to complaining about the discourse and media coverage. Trump certainly does. Additionally, there is a key distinction between being personally racist and supporting systemic racism that American political culture has trouble wrapping its mind around.
